Get to know us

At the heart of 24/7 Community is a simple desire: to see people grow into mature disciples of Jesus who are equipped to build His Kingdom here on earth. These values shape who we are and how we live together as a community of believers.

At its core, the gospel of Jesus Christ is a message of freedom. Through Christ’s death and resurrection, we are set free from sin and restored into relationship with God. When we are born again, we become a new creation. Our true identity is found in Him.

Because of this, we value the uniqueness of every person. As people discover the freedom Christ brings, they begin to find their place within the community of believers. True freedom doesn’t lead to isolation or independence. It draws us into family. It forms the kind of community described in Ephesians 4: one body, one Spirit, one faith, one hope, one Lord, one baptism, one God and Father of all.

God’s primary work in our lives is transformation. He is shaping us to become more like Christ. Each of us is called to grow into maturity, what the Bible describes as sonship. This means moving beyond simply believing in Jesus and learning to live as His disciples. We are called to follow Him, walk as He walked, and represent the heart of our Father in the world. Much of this growth happens through meaningful relationships, where honour, guidance, and spiritual family help us grow.

We also believe we are called to take part in what God is doing on the earth. Jesus invites us to participate in seeing the Kingdom of God revealed here and now. A key part of this is prayer, our living connection with God. Prayer is where we encounter His presence. As we listen to His voice and spend time with Him, we are changed and equipped to partner with Him in bringing His Kingdom to the world around us.

From early in the life of 24/7 Community, God highlighted the important place of children in the family. We believe children are not just the future of the church. They are an important part of it right now. They can encounter God, hear His voice, and respond to Him. Our desire is to see every generation worshipping, praying, and serving together. From little ones to teens, adults, and seniors, we want to be a true family.

24/7 Community is very much a work in progress. We are people on a journey together, learning, growing, and following Jesus along the way. And we’re enjoying the pilgrimage.

Peter & Carolyn Vanderwal (Senior Leaders)

God brought both Pete and Carolyn to the Goldfields in the early 1990's, firstly to restore them to Himself and secondly to be involved in seeing His Kingdom grow in Kalgoorlie-Boulder.

They began 24/7 Community in November 2002 with the desire to see people experience God’s freedom and be brought into the fullness of His intention for their lives. They have a burden for their city, to see it transformed, and are fully convinced Kalgoorlie-Boulder will become a trophy of God's grace and His redeeming power.

They are willing to challenge mindsets, forge new paths for ministry and encourage every believer to play their part in seeing His Kingdom come!
