Housechurches

The new covenant makes way for each believer to know God for himself, and to live and minister in the fullness of the Spirit of Christ.  To this end, we use small gatherings, called house churches, which can meet anywhere, anytime, to provide a place where believers can gather. These weekly gatherings, are a place to build community, beyond the weekly ‘hello, how are you?’ We seek to foster relationships within these small groups that are loving, sacrificial and life-changing; relationships that prove the reality of Jesus Christ to a culture of individualism, loneliness and selfishness.

Housechurch aims to be a place where you can grow spiritually, get questions answered, express your faith, serve alongside others, share meals and fellowship together. It is also a place where you learn to support others, to be real and transparent, and to encourage and be accountable to one another.

There are several common elements that work their way into the life of each housechurch. The focus is on sharing our lives with each other and God, relationship building, and discipling one another. At times this includes worship, prayer, ministry, teaching, sharing life stories, encouraging and supporting each other, communion, and outreach.

We want to see each believer using his passion and gifting to build up the church and serve others. Teaching focuses more on formation rather than information, through dialogue, engaging together with scripture and topics, and shared experience. Responsibility for the function of the housechurch is therefore a shared one, with a leader/overseer who facilitates and directs the meetings, and is responsible for overseeing the life of that church.

The housechurches are encouraged to be outward focused, being a missional group rather than a holy huddle. We seek to apply our faith to life and our community, and to find God’s answers to problems and activate them.

We multiply housechurches as the need arises - due to increasing size, or the establishment of a new church with a specific purpose or mission. The housechurches operate interdependently, each with its own leadership and purpose, with the shared direction and values of 24/7 network.

We collect tithes and offerings via direct debit to our bank account, and also in housechurch and celebration meetings. Finance from tithes goes to five categories: Church resources, which includes staff salary, insurances, venue hire, church resources; Member support, supporting members in times of need or in establishing their ministry; Community, supporting ministry activity within the community of Kalgoorlie-Boulder; Missions support, supporting local, national, and international ministries; Visiting Ministry, bringing visiting ministry to 24/7 church or Kalgoorlie for various ministry opportunities. Offerings above the tithe are apportioned as directed by those giving the offering.

A list of our churches follows with email contact details. Should you not have access to email, you may contact the church office on 08 90216632. You’re welcome to visit several housechurches before settling into one. Remember, these communities are not perfect.  We don’t claim to have our faith figured out, but we’re on the journey together and you’re invited along too.
